Why are the Christian nations progressive, but the Muslim nations are primitive and backwards?

Before you write that countries like the USA were founded on secular principles, understand that what I mean by "Christian nations" is that the majority of the population calls themselves Christians.





Compare the Christian nations of the West to Muslim nations. You will see quite a large disparity. Undoubtely, the reason is because Christianity is a progressive religion whereas Islam is backwards.





What's your opinion?|||By abandoning unaccountable theocracy and embracing accountable secularism, so that the public influence of religion fades away and is replaced with progress and fairness.|||Did you think about the Spanish Inquisition, Dark Ages and the use of religion for the destruction of groups around the world during imperialism? Ask an atheist is Christianity is progressive and you'll get a big hell no. Oh and the Crusades weren't so civilized either.


Did you not think of Turkey, Dubai, or any other wealthy Islamic state? There are some pretty uncivilized Christians in this country and other Christian countries. How can we all co exist without some understanding of each?|||And yet, right-wing "Christians" in the US seem to be racing ultra-conservative Muslims in the Middle East toward theocracy. American technical and social progress has absolutely nothing to do with Christianity. And a thousand years ago, it was the Muslims who were the intellectuals and the Western Europeans who had the backwards, superstitious cultures|||what we believe:


Be good, give charity, pray 5 times a day....

Be mean, don't give charity, don't pray, don't fast, don't do wat we are supposeed to do








so maybe if they just did as they believed they would be better|||As Jeiku already said, it is a matter of resources. Not religion.





American/European societies spent most of their industrial years exploiting the third world (Africa, Asia during that time, etc).





You weren't "blessed" with more progress, but your ancestors took the necessary actions to ensure you would be more progressed than others. Such actions were made before Christianity even came about.|||It may have something to do with the past 60 years of overthrows, invasions, occupations and miscellaneous bullets and bombs from Western nations. It's difficult to make progress when someone keeps throwing you back a hundred years or so.|||There are so many possible causes to the poverty you attribute to religion alone. Show that those causes don't weigh more heavily on the results, and then you have a point; as it is right now, your argument falls apart because of that fallacy.|||christian controlled nations don't kill atheists like they once did. since atheists make up 98% of all scientists, they allow christian controlled nations to move forward.

So they stone people to death and all.|||You mean the SECULAR western nations?|||Take a good look at Christianity at 1400 years old. We call it the Dark Ages for many very good reasons.
