What is the correct Christian way to pray?

What is the correct way for a Christian to pray, i mean like before they go to bed and at a dinner table. What are some things to say. How should i say it? |||Is there a correct way to talk to your father?

Is there a correct way to talk to a friend?

How you talk to these will depend on the situation and other circumstances at the time. It is the same with prayer.

God is your Father. Speak to Him as such. Not with a list of rules or a formula, just dad! That's what Jesus said. I was at the local swimming pool last year and heard a small Jewish child call "Adda" to his daddy. It made me think of that verse when Jesus said we can talk to the Father like that.|||Pour out your heart to him, in everything. Show your thanks, express your heart. The Father loves nothing more than to be with His children.

|||You can pray in anyway you want. You don't have to kneel beside your bed or make the sign of the cross before you pray. Just make sure that when you pray, you pray from your own mind and your own heart, especially if you're using a prayer made by someone else (i.e. the Lord's Prayer or the Hail Mary). If you don't, it's like going up to a friend from school and reading everything you want to say to them from a piece of paper. No, you want to pray so that whatever you say, you mean it in your own words.

Hope this advice helps!|||Use Mathew 6:9-11 as a model as Jesus said.

You can pray at anytime and for anything that is in line with your heavenly fathers will.

Praying for things such as a nice boyfriend or girlfriend, a high paying job,or a brand new car and the like would not fall into god's will. Those prayers would be heard by him but would he be listening to the prayer, meaning would he give attention to the prayer. Most likely not. Take in knowledge of his word the bible as jesus said in John 17:3, and you will be on your way to truly getting a listening ear from the hearer of prayer.

|||there is no correct way to pray. we should be in constant Communion with God. that ia be in prayer at all times. but it is Good to have a quiet time were you stop to read the bible I think either early morning or just before sleep.thanking God at meal times is an extra and should be automatic,|||(Matthew 6:5-13) . . .Also, when YOU pray, YOU must not be as the hypocrites; because they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the broad ways to be visible to men. Truly I say to YOU, They are having their reward in full. 6 You, however, when you pray, go into your private room and, after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; then your Father who looks on in secret will repay you. 7 But when praying, do not say the same things over and over again, just as the people of the nations do, for they imagine they will get a hearing for their use of many words. 8 So, do not make yourselves like them, for God YOUR Father knows what things YOU are needing before ever YOU ask him. 9 “YOU must pray, then, this way: “‘Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified. 10 Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth. 11 Give us today our bread for this day; 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.’

www.Heaven-Above.info|||I have a question myself, what is the point in praying for no answer?? You think he answered it when it comes true 30% of the time, but you would get the same result if you didn't pray|||Hi. I understand your dilemma. I want to start by saying you already have the MOST important and MOST crucial principle being applied - you WANT to pray correctly and have God hear you. The fact that YOU have come here asking this question shows your strong desire that you want the best answer to how to pray my friend! Congratulations! I commend you for that!

Secondly, I will agree, in part, with the person who quoted from Matthew Chapter 6 where Jesus taught his disciples to how to pray. Yes. Jesus did start by telling them how they should "not" pray (like the hypocrites do) But he did go to give an exemplary prayer to follow. You can find Bible study resources online for free probably but you could easily run into some bad things too. Let me give you a couple resources that will be valuable as you search to do this:

1) http://www.store.embracingtruth.org/content/search/product/view_item.php?dcn=47475%26amp;sm= This is a book you will want to read. It is not a huge book. It reads quick and answers questions you will want answered.

2) http://www.amazon.com/Long-Wandering-Prayer-Invitation-Walk/dp/0830822836 This book is about what the author calls, "long wandering prayer" - great book that will relieve you about formal prayer.

The truth is God wants you to understand that if you have a desire to come to Him for everything in your life then only one thing remains...for you to SIMPLY PRAY! You know how to talk to your best friend(s). Talk to God the same way. He loves you and created you for one purpose...to have an enjoyable relationship with you and you with Him and one of those ways is talking with Him. Praying is talking. It's just a different word that means the same thing!

However, Christian prayer will not mean anything if you are not truly a Christian!

One must define what a Christian is first.
