For a Christian do good works come from God working through us or from ourselves?

Can a Christian really do good works (Gods standard of good works) without the Holy Spirit willing and working through them?


So, is a Christian really working out from there salvation (which God is doing through them), not working for?|||1 Corinthians 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.





In this next passage Paul is telling Christians to take their salvation seriously because God is at work in their lives. He isn't saying that they can add to their salvation with their good works.





Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.|||"Apart from me you can do nothing" John 15|||Eph. 2:8-10--8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith鈥攁nd this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God鈥?9not by works, so that no one can boast. 10For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.





That sums it up pretty good.|||Having love and compassion for your fellow humans is good works (God's standards).





It is what's in your heart that matters... If your works come from with in you than it is your works. God has a few chosen that He will direct in their life but over all, we have independent free will.|||From God working through us. Our good works are the fruits of our salvation. Because we love Him, we obey His commandments. Because we love Him, we let His light shine through us.|||hmm|||Without me, you can do nothing, says our Savior, Witness4JC:





Of course being baptized by water is easy--they sprinkle babies all the time, but to be saved one must also be baptized by the Spirit.l





You see, it is Christ in you that is the mechanism of our salvation, doing His good pleasure.





This is not negating Christ's great sacrifice where He atones for those sins we confess on Him, but just believing is not enough as the Devil believes Jesus is the majesty of heaven, and trembles, knowing the fate of transgressors, of which he is the chief.
